If in doubt, brew up
19 Fourteas is a tea room dressed head to toe in the 1940s. The menus are tucked inside Ministry of Food ration books, the placemats are wartime newspapers, and every table is laid with lace, tartan or gingham and a different set of vintage bone china.
Look up and there is bunting and paper chains strung between the beams. Look around and you will find a vintage wireless, wartime posters, framed photographs, Union flag cushions on the chairs and a dresser full of green crockery. A sign on the wall sums it up: “If in doubt, brew up!”
Tucked into one corner is the Command Bunker, a corrugated Anderson shelter with its own lamp lit table for those who want to take their tea under cover.
